The Simpsons predicted the Russia-Ukraine crisis in 1998. Here’s the proof, Trending News

What the “Simpsons” think today, the world thinks tomorrow. The show seems to have predicted the current crisis between Ukraine and Russia in 1998.

In one of its episodes, the series once again predicted the return of the Soviet Union and the emergence of the Cold War.

A clip from the popular series is widely shared on social media and shows how the West is trying to come up with a solution to stop an ‘all-out war’. The clip is taken from an old episode of “Simpsons Tide” which supposedly aired in March 1998, at a time when Boris Yeltsin was President of the Russian Federation.

The episode shows Homer Simpsons joining the navy and how he gets into a shooting match with a Russian submarine.

The clip which is going viral on social media shows the Russian ambassador to the UN revealing the collapse of the Soviet Union and was only the deception of the United States. The equally hilarious clip brings Lenin back to life as he emerges from his glass coffin saying “must crush capitalism”.

In recent weeks, the United States has accused President Vladimir Putin of mustering more than 150,000 troops near Ukraine’s borders in preparation for what many fear could be an outright invasion.

US President Joe Biden has imposed new sanctions on Russia while saying the invasion of Ukraine began as Russian lawmakers gave permission for Putin to deploy “peacekeepers” to two Ukrainian regions.

Russia has repeatedly denied plans for such an attack, but says it has a duty to protect people living in the two breakaway regions.

Putin had said on Monday that Russia would recognize Donetsk and Lugansk in eastern Ukraine as separate republics while declaring that the Minsk peace accords over the Ukraine conflict no longer existed.

This isn’t the first time “The Simpsons” has predicted the future. From the Astroworld stampede to Kamala Harris being sworn into the US office as Vice President to the riots in the US Capitol, the predictions made on the show have come true in the recent past.
