Left links of domestic spies

Left links of domestic spies

Big budget movies like “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” and “True lies” sparked the intrigue with the shock of someone discovering that their spouse or significant other is involved in espionage. But the reality seems to be more like the forgotten “Arlington road ”, in which a couple is united in their clandestine work.

The recent arrest of a Maryland couple for selling America’s nuclear secrets also adds to the tendency of these destructive duos to have clear left-wing political agendas. Not that it gets a lot – or no – media coverage.

“[S]strangely enough, ”wrote Project 21 Co-chairman Horace Cooper, “Husband and wife traitors are often linked to leftist politics. Why has the establishment media not focused on this link? “

As Horace explained in a remark published by American Greatness, “very little media coverage has focused on their progressive political background – the most likely key to their wrongdoing.”

In the recent case of Jonathan and Diana Toebbe, the couple sought to to sell information about submarine nuclear reactors to a still anonymous foreign government when they were caught by an FBI undercover operation. Diana acted as a lookout while Jonathan left a computer memory card hidden in a peanut butter sandwich to a “dead drop” in West Virginia.

The Toebbes were very prominent in their Politics. They hoisted a Black Lives Matter flag in their yard. Diana, whose social media echoed this radicalism, once posted: “America is temporarily down. We hope to restore service as soon as possible.

Horace noted that the apparent lack of interest in their politics is part of a trend:

Unfortunately, little or no attention is paid to their “awakened” motivations.

But this is not surprising. In fact, a review of four previous major treason cases reveals a similar pattern: husbands and wives are selling their country and the media are either reporting that there is no motive for their betrayal or blaming their bad. acts of mere greed.

Horace asked, “Is it possible that the hatred for the country that underlies so much progressivism is the catalyst for this deep level of perfidy?” Consider how so many modern spy stories had romantic relationships that went against the interests of the United States:

  • Robert hanssen voluntarily helped the Soviet Union obtain information about American intelligence resources while his wife – who knew what he was doing – did nothing to stop him.
  • Aldrich ames revealed the identity of undercover agents imprisoned and executed by the Soviets, believing that socialism would bring “economic and social justice” – and yet his wife helped and encouraged him after discovering his deadly secret.
  • Edward Lee Howard defected to the Soviet Union after selling American secrets, and his wife was a key element in his escape from the United States.
  • Julius Rosenberg and his wife Ethel, were executed in 1953 for passing military secrets to the Soviets – and their veracity was later confirmed after the fall of the Soviet Union despite decades of defending leftists.

“How many cases involving couples motivated by leftist ideas do we need to see before the media starts asking if there is any correlation with betrayal behavior against America and leftist ideology?” asked Horace.
