Important milestone in our learning community

On Saturday, December 4, the Effective Christian Ministry Cohort successfully hosted their second summit: a one-day event with presentations from clergy and lay ministry leaders.

The ECM Cohort is a nine-month (September-May) learning community designed to help parish teams implement the practices and principles of effective Christian ministry in their parish context.

Communities from various Orthodox traditions participate in both the United States and Canada.

This summit represents the midpoint of the cohort, as parish teams shift their focus from learning to planning for how they will implement the practices and principles of GCED.

The Summit included four key presentations:

  • “Discerning Ministries for You and Your Parish” with Presbytera Julie Honeycutt, LPC
  • “Consolidation of Peace in the Parish: Foundations of an Orthodox Response to Conflict” with Fr. Philip LeMasters, Ph.D.
  • “Young Adult Case Study” with Anna Sobchak
  • “Rooted in Christ and the Practices of Faith” with Steven Christoforou

The work of the cohort will continue on Saturday January 4 with a webinar from Father Seraphim Aldea (Abbot of Mull Monastery) on “Being filled with Christ and the practices of self-emptying”.

More information on the cohort is available at effectivechristianministry.org/cohort.

Registration for next year’s cohort will open in the spring.
