FAIRMONT – The funeral for Darla Mae Grefe, 91, of Fairmont, Minnesota, will be on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Those wishing to view a live broadcast of the service can do so at www.splfairmont.org. Visitations will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the church. Interment will follow the service at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Truman, Minn.

Darla Mae was called to her heavenly home on Friday, June 18, 2021, at the Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Memorials are preferred over the H&D Grefe Scholarship Fund at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Fairmont, Martin Luther High School, Martin County.

Historical Society or Heritage Acres. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont helps the family make the arrangements.

Darla Mae was born February 19, 1930 to Albert and Lydia (Cook) Wohlrabe, on their farm near Amboy, Minnesota. She was baptized on March 16, 1930 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amboy. She attended Pleasant View School District 80, located across from her

home. Her family moved to Truman in the summer of 1943. She was confirmed on April 30, 1944 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. She graduated from Truman High School in May 1948. Darla Mae studied at the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis for

become a medical technician. After graduating in 1949, she worked for Dr.’s Thayer, Wandke and Kraemer at Fairmont.

She married Herman Grefe on June 9, 1951, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. They settled in Fairmont, becoming members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she sang in a choir, got involved in her children’s school activities, and belonged to the Charity Club. She has been active with the Lutheran Retirement Home Auxiliary, the American Red Cross Bloodmobile, and the American Heart Association. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling with her husband and spending time with her family.

Darla Mae is survived by her children Juleen (Neal) Breitbarth of Truman, Laurel (Lee) Engquist of Northfield and Thomas (Mary) Grefe of Nicollet; grandchildren, Adam (Lisa) Breitbarth, Michael Breitbarth, Rebekah (Noah) Rogness, Andrew (Christa) Engquist,

Katie (Joe) Henefield, Seth Grefe, Ethan (Becky) Grefe, Joshua Grefe, Caleb Grefe and Jacob (Alexa) Grefe; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Samson, Jonah and Gabriel Rogness, Noelle Engquist, Emerson and Adeline Henefield and Isaac and Noah Grefe, with two more this year; sisters-in-law, Martha (Grefe) Broscheit and Sharon Grefe; plus cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman in 2008; parents, Albert and Lydia Wohlrabe; great-grandson, Mitchell Breitbarth; brothers, Lawrence (Roberta),
