The animal blessing commemorating the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi will take place on October 2 at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Come on, come on all furry, feathered and scary animal friends. All animals are welcome on a leash, in a transport cage or in a crate. Also, don’t hesitate to bring photos of missing animal friends or those who aren’t doing well outdoors or in crowds.
Thrift store sidewalk sale
SOUTH BETHLEHEM – The South Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 67 Willowbrook Ave., South Bethlehem, will be holding a thrift sidewalk sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 25. Some of the most popular vendors and handcrafted birdhouses and other woodwork from our church members will be included. Breakfast and lunch will be available and a small seating area will be provided. All social distancing protocols will be followed for the safety of the community. A portion of the funds raised through this sale will go to support local United Methodist Women missions: the Brown Bag-It program sponsored by the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School District, the Capital Rescue Mission, interfaith partnerships for the homeless and the Venture Food business. VALATIE – The First Presbyterian Church, 3212 Church Street, Valatie, will be holding a label sale and serving BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and sides on October 2. The sale of labels and bags will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be books, toys, housewares and collectibles. The church participates in the sale of labels on a village scale. Donations are accepted, call Nancy at 518-527-2810. Sandwiches and sides will be served from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Accompaniments include baked beans, coleslaw and signature barbecue sauce. CATSKILL – Catskill United Methodist Church, 40 Woodland Ave., Catskill, will be holding a Red Cross blood drive from 7.45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 9. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the American Red Cross at 1-800. -RED CROSS.

SCHODACK LANDING – The Dutch Reformed Church of Schodack in Muitzeskill, 902 Schodack Landing Road, Schodack Landing, will be serving a take-out-only version of its annual turkey dinner on October 23. Three hours of pickup are available starting at 4:00 p.m., 4:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The cost is $ 15 for adults and $ 7 for children 12 and under. Dinner will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, squash, green beans, cranberry sauce, a bun and a piece of pie, for dessert. No special request please, except gluten free.
